Plus, a quick update on our break.
I’m Isaac Saul, and this is Tangle: an independent, nonpartisan, subscriber-supported politics newsletter that summarizes the best arguments from across the political spectrum on the news of the day — then “my take.”
As you know, our team is on vacation right now and will be back in your inbox with our regularly scheduled newsletters and podcasts starting on Monday, January 8th. But, as promised, we're writing today to let you know that we just published a brand new video on our YouTube channel about misinformation and fake news that has spread like wildfire in the three months since Hamas’s attack on Israel and the subsequent fighting in Gaza.
I think this is the most important video we've ever done. It includes dozens of examples of misreported or downright false news that has gone viral on social media. These lies are great examples of why diversifying your news diet and fact-checking what you share is so important. I’m quite certain many of you have actually fallen for some of the stories we cover in the video, as a few of them even fooled me before I dug deeper. I hope you'll take 10 minutes to watch it (below).
Also, thank you to the nearly 3,000 people that took our end of the year survey. If you haven’t yet (please only take it once), you can go fill it out here — it takes about five minutes.
While we are taking a break from the newsletter, we’ve been keeping an eye on happenings across the world, too. On Monday, we’ll be back in your inbox with a newsletter that includes a roundup of all the big stories we missed while on break. Until then, happy new year!
