When John was in fifth grade, he let his fear of spiders get the best of him. As he looks back at a youth haunted by arachnophobia, he admits to a sense of frustration at himself for allowing an irrational fear to get the best of him. He gets the same feeling today when going through airport security. In a piece that had us at times chuckling and other times nodding in thoughtful agreement, John makes the case that many of the TSA’s policies are an irrational projection of our fears and a waste of resources. You can read the full piece here.
