This is the Tangle Sunday Edition, a brief roundup of our independent politics coverage plus some extra features for your Sunday morning reading.
We occasionally tweak the format in our Sunday edition, and we’re trying two new things today.
First, just after our coverage roundup, we’re adding a “What just happened” section to highlight a few headline stories that have broken since our most recent full edition. This new feature comes in a response to a constant piece of feedback from some readers who wish we'd include major events when we release this Sunday edition.
Second, we’re changing our “Tweet of the week” section to “Post of the week,” for two reasons. 1) Now that Elon Musk is undeniably a political figure, simply using the social media site he owns — X — is itself increasingly seen as political. 2) There are just so many other interesting social media sites out there and there’s no reason for us to limit ourselves to just X. Broadening the scope to include more sources feels very in keeping with our values (though our first “Post of the week” today is still a Tweet, expect different sources in the future).
As always, don't be afraid to write in to tell us what you think!

Two of our most important guiding principles at Tangle are to share perspectives from a variety of different voices, and to hear those perspectives with empathy and tolerance — especially when we disagree. Those are both principles that we believe you share as readers but that are also often normally easy to abide by. However, we expect today’s reader essay to challenge those principles; today’s reader essay was written by a self-described pedophile.
In it, “Leonard” explains the important difference between “pedophile” and “child molester,” how his attraction is different from an urge to harm, and what he’s learned (and hopes we can learn) about free speech tolerance. Please, read with an open mind.
The piece is very well written, and you can read it here.

Reader review.
In this section, we like to feature two comments from the same edition that critique our coverage in two different ways. In part one of our review of the Joe Biden presidency, we actually saw two sets of two comments that we felt spoke to each other in an interesting way, so we have four comments to highlight today:
