But don't wait, this offer is only on this page — and expires once you leave.
The longer story of Tangle.
I’m Isaac Saul, founder of Tangle and a politics reporter from Bucks County, Pennsylvania — one of the most politically divided counties in the U.S.
I've been a journalist for 12 years and I created Tangle because I recognize that the media is broken. Most news outlets have biases that are obvious to every American, we are all living in self-curated "news bubbles" where we are spoon-fed beliefs we already have, and if we log onto social media the people we disagree with are caricatured into the worst people possible.
Political reporting is often sensationalized and helps spread lies and misconceptions.
Politicians and pundits on both sides work hard to elevate the worst arguments of their opponents and say they’re representative of the other side's perspective. If you read any single news article, you are seldom getting the full story.
I created Tangle to fix these problems.
- Get people out of their media bubbles.
- Help us understand the political debates happening in a more nuanced way.
- Build a media organization trusted by people on the left, right and center.
And it's working. (We even have a Shorty Award to prove it).
The Tangle community is read by everyone.
Here's 2024 polling data of our readership.

Our work has been widely cited and recognized for its impact.
- Media bias watchdogs like AllSides, Media Bias/Fact Check, and AdFontes rate Tangle as "center" bias and highly accurate.
- We just won a 2024 Shorty Award for Best News & Media company.
- Our audience is 40% liberal, 30% conservative, and 30% independent or "other" — so we are bringing a diverse audience under one roof.
- More than 95% of all our readers, regardless of their political affiliation, say they trust Tangle to deliver balanced news.

The Tangle Newsletter Special Sauce
We are not trying to tell you what to think or how to think, we just want to make sure you're exposed to the best arguments out there.
Every day, we break down one major debate happening in politics, then share the best arguments we can find from left, right, and center on that debate.
I also offer "my take," with all sorts of nuanced and independent opinions in between. Tangle readers get a full picture of the news from a reporter (me) who is not trying to hide their biases or convince them they should feel a certain way. Instead, you can hear from the other side, learn more about an issue, and embrace the complicated world we live in — then decide for yourself.
In order to do this work right, though, I had to make a tough decision:
I had to be 100% independent.
That means no investors and no outside influence. That means 80% of our revenue comes solely from subscribers (like you!) and donations.
So... I ask my readers to support this work with a low-cost, monthly ($6) or yearly ($59) subscription to our newsletter.
A Premium Tangle Membership unlocks:
- 100% ad-free reading for a cleaner, uninterrupted experience.
- Access to our full archive of 1,500+ posts, including transcribed interviews, deep dives, and partner content on complex, controversial topics.
- Entry into our private, subscriber-only comments section, where thoughtful readers engage in smart, civil discussions.
- Exclusive Friday editions featuring original interviews, deep analysis, special guests, and long-form essays you won’t find anywhere else. [Here's a sample]
- Optional Sunday editions with comics, reader essays, and a weekly roundup of every story we covered.
It’s a small investment that makes a big impact — and helps keep independent, nonpartisan journalism alive.
So far, over 60,000 of our 400,000 readers have become paying subscribers, and 99% of all Tangle members stay subscribers every month.
Here's what one reader wrote in May 2025:

Since you just signed up, I wanted to encourage you to take the leap and join those 60,000+ members in supporting this new kind of independent journalism.
If you prefer to listen, you can get our newsletter in audio form each day with our podcast. If you'd like, you can also bundle your newsletter subscription with a podcast membership and get 20% off those together as well.
Again: This offer only exists on this page, and once you X-out you won't be able to claim it. You can read our Monday-Thursday newsletter for free, but as part of this offer, you can get 20% off our yearly newsletter subscription here.
Thank you for trying Tangle, and I hope you enjoy the content.
I'm so glad you're here.
